Pennsylvania is facing a “growing” $532.5 million budget deficit, The Morning Call reported on Wednesday, and some politicians and some casino moguls see Internet gambling as a way to “help plug” it.

A legislative study, it was reported, said revenue from a tax on the profits of online gambling could run $63 million in the first year. Meanwhile, The Philadelphia Inquirer said the deficit “could soar as high as $1.2 billion” in the coming fiscal year. If we go by that figure, revenues of $63 million would represent around one-19th of the deficit.
