Nevada Attorney General, Adam Laxalt, has announced he will sign on to a letter currently circulating among state Attorneys General that supports the Restoration of America’s Wire Act (RAWA). In doing so, he is making a public commitment to protect jobs in Nevada’s travel and tourism sector, the state’s largest industry.

More than 330,000 Americans work in the casino industry, Nevada comprising the majority of those jobs. Hundreds of thousands more work in industries supported by licensed casinos. Internet gambling, especially if it includes a full assortment of casino style games, will reduce participation at brick and mortar casinos, with a commensurate impact on jobs in lodging, restaurant, entertainment and retail industries which rely on brick-and-mortar casinos.

In supporting RAWA, Laxalt is not simply helping save Nevada jobs, but also protecting citizens from the well-documented predatory practices used by online gambling companies. Laxalt is the third Attorney General, along with Missouri’s Chris Koster and South Carolina’s Alan Wilson, to support RAWA and marks a shift in momentum nationwide to restore the Wire Act to it’s original form and purpose.

Below is the letter circulating among Attorneys General, which Laxalt intends to sign. We thank AG Laxalt for his support in protecting the jobs of more than one million Americans working in casinos, lodging, restaurant, entertainment and retail at casino properties.
